About me

Across our lives, we become many things as women, but we are first ourselves; let us not forget ourselves.

Personally

I grew up in Far North Queensland and never left. I have lived mostly in Cairns but have also had the experience of living in the ‘drier’ Townsville (where I birthed my three children) and the ‘wetter’ Cassowary Coast (where I developed as a Midwife). I live in this beautiful part of the world with my Nurse husband and my three sons. When I am not being with women I am surrounded by males! It is actually a wonderful balance. When I am not doing Midwifery work, you will find me dancing around my house to loud music, caring for wild and not so wild animals, hiking, and spending time in Central Australia or Nepal!

Professionally

I am a Registered and Endorsed Midwife. I have studied a Bachelor of Midwifery and a Master of Science in Medicine, Sexual & Reproductive Health. I have worked almost entirely in Midwifery led models, caring for the same women from the moment they know they are pregnant right through till the birth, and beyond to 6 weeks. I have also spent time in Nepal working alongside Nepali Midwives as well as delivering education on women’s sexual and reproductive health. See the True to Birth page on this website.

My favourite thing as a Midwife is receiving from women what is important to them and their family. Listening to culture, experience, values, faith, and the intuition of women lights my way as a Midwife. All of these things I regard highly in the care of pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. These are the stories of ourselves. We have so much knowledge.
